This hand crossbow was modified to fire darts dosed with certain potions. The syringe point needles this fires cause successful hits to not deal direct damage, instead using the damage dice roll to apply the potion effect, this also works with critical hits.
You can tell what potion is being fired by the color of the liquid
Dart options:
Red - Healing - heal a target equal to the damage roll.
Orange - Haste - your target gains move speed equal to 5x your damage roll (round up) until the end of their next turn.
Yellow - Corrosive - deal acid damage equal to the damage roll.
Yellow - Toxic - your target needs to make a saving throw dc 10 + the damage rolled or become poisoned until the end of their next turn.
Blue - Weakness - your target needs to make a saving throw dc 10 + the damage rolled or fall prone.
Purple - Slow - your targets loses movement speed equal to 5x half of your damage roll (round down) until the end of their next turn.
Rearming your dart gun:
To make more ammunition, you need proficiency with alchemist's tools and the following ingredients.
Crossbow bolts/darts
Needle/syringes/spines
The substance associated with the effect
Healing Potion : 1 dart per d4 of healing
Haste Potion: 4 darts per potion
Acids: 2 darts per vial
Poisons: 2 darts per vial
Paralyzing venoms: 2 darts per vial
Sleep potion: 4 darts per potion.
It takes approximately 1 hour to concentrate, distill, and fill 10 darts.
Proficiency with a Hand Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
