This compact metal-and-leather harness straps securely to the back. When activated, small arcane thrusters on the sides and base ignite with blue-white energy, allowing limited flight.
Properties
While wearing the jet pack, you gain the following benefits:
• Flight: As a bonus action, you can activate the jet pack and gain a flying speed of 30 feet until the end of your turn. You must land at the end of your turn or fall if you are still in the air.
• Boost: When you take the Dash action, you can choose to use the jet pack. If you do, your walking or flying speed increases by an additional 15 feet for that Dash, and you ignore difficult terrain during the movement.
• Controlled Descent: When you fall, you can use your reaction to activate the jet pack and reduce falling damage to 0. You land on your feet.
Charges
The jet pack has 4 charges. Activating Flight or Boost expends 1 charge. It regains 1d4 expended charges daily at dawn.
Overclock (Optional Rule)
You can expend 2 charges instead of 1 when activating Flight. If you do, your flying speed becomes 40 feet and you do not need to land at the end of your turn. At the end of your next turn, the jet pack overheats and cannot be used again until you finish a short or long rest.
Notes: As you strap the harness across your back and focus your will into the device, the thrusters give a low, resonant hum. Faint blue arcane light traces along the seams of the metal and leather, and the weight of the pack settles into perfect balance against your frame. For a moment you feel a surge of upward force, as if the ground itself has loosened its hold on you. The jet pack is now bonded to you — its power answering only to your command.
