This modified light crossbow is reinforced with alchemical tubing and a pressure‑release firing chamber. Instead of bolts, it launches small potion vials using compressed force. A potion fired from the crossbow shatters on impact, releasing its effects at the target location.
You can load any standard potion as an action. When fired, the potion travels up to the crossbow’s normal range. If it hits a creature or surface, the vial breaks and the potion’s effect is applied at the point of impact. Attack rolls use your normal ranged weapon attack bonus, but the potion’s effect functions exactly as if it were consumed or used normally, except that:
-
Healing potions heal the creature struck.
-
Buff or utility potions affect the creature struck.
-
Area‑effect potions (like alchemist’s fire) behave normally.
If a potion requires voluntary consumption, the target must be willing; otherwise the potion has no effect.
You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Proficiency with a Light Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
