Wondrous Item, rare
Forged from a sleek, dark-mottled metal, this heavy arm cuff fits securely around the forearm. Etched deep into its metal are intricate channels that pulse with a deep, resonant purple light. When you channel spells through it, wisps of dark, violet magic flow down your arm to your fingertips, swirling like ink through clear, clean water.
Item Traits & Mechanics
Spell casting focus: While wearing this armband, it functions as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.
Dark Surge: When you cast a wizard spell that deals damage, you can use a bonus action to cause the armbands purple channels to flash violently. Choose one target of the spell; that creature takes additional Necrotic or Force damage equal to your Intelligence modifier and the spell's level. You can use this property the number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, regaining all uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Dark Veil: You can channel the dark magic within the cuff to create a shroud of protection. As an action, you release a 15-foot radius sphere of swirling dark violet mist centered on yourself that lasts until the end of your next turn. The area is heavily obscured to other creatures, but you can see through it clearly. Once used, this property can't be used again until you finish a Long Rest.
Notes: Bonus: Spell Attacks, Bonus: Spell Save DC, Buff, Utility, Focus
