Muggler's Ship In Bottle creates a temporary ersatz boat useful for crossing rivers and small bodies of water.
Usage Instructions
Pour this potion on flat ground or calm water, as it spreads into a thin film it dries and surface tension causes it to curl upward into a bowl shape.
The resulting bowl hardens and is rigid enough to support up to 3 adventurers and their equipment in calm to mild waters. The boat is tippy and each occupant must pass a dexterity check every 10 minutes or the boat spills them into water.
Duration when immersed in water is 1 hour.
Alternate uses
The resulting bowl shape can be inverted and used as a "Tent in Bottle" shielding 3 adventurers from cold and storms and attacking small creatures. Sheltering occupants must pass a dexterity check every 2 hours or shelter is raised on a gust of wind and is lifted off them.
Duration in moderate to severe weather is 8 hours.
Side Effects: Roll a d20 (DM rolls)
1 - If anyone fails their dexterity check the bowl is shattered.
2 to 5 - Bowl is attractive to all aquatic creatures. As a shelter it attracts woodland creatures.
6 to 9 - Dexterity checks are at disadvantage.
10 to 19 - No side effects.
20 - Durability and size of the bowl is amazing. It does not dissolve and can support 6 adventurers.
Notes: Muggler the wizard forest Gnome formulated this potion from his attempt at preparing potions from the book "Potions for the Gentleman Adventurer" written in a lost language of which Muggler only understood some words. Due to the language issues and requirements for ingredients not found locally plus his own impatience Muggler has never followed any of the potion formulas faithfully. Before becoming a famous adventurer, Muggler lived as a hedge wizard selling potions to local villagers and farmers, his potions are "legendary" for the wrong reasons, being hastily prepared with minimal ingredients leading to variable quality. He has often left a town or village just ahead of a mob after a potion went wrong.
