Crafted in Sharpcut Academy in Shadecast by Garoman Vris and his underlings, this sword was the crown jewel of the proud Dwarven Stonecrafting Academy. When they first arrived at the Coarse Branch Peninsula, the dwarves who began this city came across a strange and extremely powerful tear-shaped gem known as a dew shard. After some experimentation, they discovered that the gem itself contained a deep connection to an ancient elemental creature, older than even their own dwarven heritage went, and found out harnessing the magic of the stone was nearly impossible and some even died attempting to control it.
So they decided to fashion a sword that held within it the power to control the gem to an extent, with the help of magical creatures they had met, allowing short bursts of its awesome power. Through the many hands of the expert craftsmen at the Academy and beyond, they were able to craft Anzhuf Grum, the Watergem Steel, an impeccably sharp and wholly magical weapon, that possessed the ability to incur the magic of this ancient water elemental in finite bursts. However, the powerful magic, especially to those who do not practice in the arcane, still remained a curse and a boon to the possessor, giving them godlike abilities while taking the user's life force because of the magical exertion for using it.
Wielding Anzhuf Grum will incur the following effects:
- The weapon has +2 to weapon damage
- Wrath of the Dead. The dead aid in the power of your strikes, though from where you know not. A distant cry of the dead edges through the sky in some unmarked plane of existence. A surge of power passes through your strike as your enemies rot away with the Earth. 1d8 Necrotic damage.
- Wrath of the Sea. The home of the elemental calls to your strike, as Grahvahnorin's wrath bestows a strike of the true force of the seas. 1d10 Force Damage. This also doubles in impact for a hit on any fire-based enemy (determined by DM).
- Wrath of the Ancients. Primordial ooze seeps from your weapon as the ancients gather a brief strike of power to melt away enemies. 1d8 acid damage.
- Wrath of the Cursed Roulette.
The exertion of magical energy has weakened you. The power used by this weapon is not intended for any mortal creature's frail life or the next. On any strike that hits with this weapon, the user must also pay penance to Grahvahnorin one way or the other.
ROLL 1D20- Result of 1. Pay the toll to Grahvahnorin for usurping their ancient artifact. (Outcome determined by DM)
- Result of 2-3. Loss of life. Until your next long rest OR the use of an appropriate spell (ref. to DM), you now have 1/2 life max for the day. You cannot heal more than that.
- Result 4 - 10. 15+ CHA SAVE, or take 1d10 necrotic damage, half as much on a save.
- Result 11 - 15. Disadvantage on any attack rolls until a short rest is taken.
- Result 16 - 18. 15+ INT SAVE or take 1d6 necrotic damage, half as much on a save.
- Result 19 - 20. Nothing happens.
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Damage: Acid, Damage: Force, Damage: Necrotic, Damage: Melee Weapon Attacks, Short Rest, Finesse, Light, Vex
