It is unknown how many Armors of the Tarrasque exist in the world or who might have made any one armor set. It is believed that Jagor Chase once hunted the great monstrosity in order to have Raina Naycess craft for him a set of this armor, only to cast it off upon learning of its properties. According to Raina, the uncontrollable nature of the Tarrasque found its way into anything that was made from the creature, no matter the circumstances of creation.
An unattuned wearer of the Armor of the Tarrasque treats is a normal Hide Armor. In order to become attuned the wearer must undergo a 1 hour ritual in which the wearer cuts into their skin 10 times, each doing 1d4 damage that cannot be healed except by the healing provided by the Armor itself. When the wearer goes to don this armor and attune it, the armor melds itself against the wearer's body, linking the two. Removing this armor when attuned takes roughly 10 minutes due to having to sever the melding.
Due to its uncontrollable and mutable nature, Armor of the Tarrasque can be worn by any creature that is the same size as the armor is intended for, or up to 1 size larger or smaller.
To While an attuned wearer is affect in the following ways instead:
- the armor is treated as +2 Hide Armor
- the wearer's Armor Class becomes 14 + Dexterity (max 6)
- the wearer automatically succeeds on all death saving throws
- the wearer heals 1 Hit Point every 10 minutes
- the wearer gains resistance to Fire and Poison Damage and cannot gain the poisonedcondition
- the wearer gains resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing Damage from Nonmagical Attacks
- the wearer's speed is reduced by 10 feet.
This crude armor consists of thick furs and pelts.
