Ancestral Katana

A pair of twin short swords, representing Yin and Yang and created by the blacksmith Gan Jiang of Wu during the Spring and Autumn Period of China. They were created with no real reason for it, bearing no vanity or purpose within them, no fighting spirit to defeat others or prove to be the superior weapons, nor the desire to become famous, and bearing no faith in the possibility of achieving greatness. They stand for nothing, save each other, sharing an unbreakable bond and always seeking the other out when separated.

Kanshou, the black Yang sword, bears a red hexagonal design along its blade while Bakuya, the white Yin sword, has a white wave pattern and appears hazy as opposed to a polished shine.

When properly attuned to the weapons, the wielder shares in the weapons' emptiness, shedding their vanity and desire for glory to live a simple existence. Once the wielder achieves this, they will unlock access to the bond the weapons have. The twin swords are constantly attracted to one another, allowing them to stay close together when thrown as a projectile with no veering in their path before returning to the user like boomerangs, so long as they are within the user's line of sight. Finally, the weapons can be dismissed when not in use, entering a pocket dimension where they are stored. The wielder can use a bonus action to summon them back to their hands.

Greater strength could be achieved with the twin swords, though time and focus with the weapons would be necessary to achieve this.

Proficiency with a shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
