Armor (padded), very rare (requires attunement)

Ablative Ferroceramic Mesh armor is typically only found on spacefaring races of generally humanoid configuration (one head, two arms, two legs). It consists of force-absorbing, interlocking plates made of a lightweight mithral-infused ceramic. It is incredibly light and incredibly strong, but wears out over time as it is designed to absorb damage across a large surface which causes small chips to flake off and degrade its effectiveness. The DM should roll a D20 once every 50 (or so) bludgeoning attacks that hit the user; on a 1, the DM lets the player know that the armor has been damaged. It still functions normally in a damaged state, but the next time a 1 is rolled by the DM on the check, the armor is destroyed and is considered AC10, though the DM may or may not let the user know, at their discretion. If a (gnomic) machine can be found which produces this armor, and operated successfully, then the armor may be repaired while in its damaged state.

The 'magic' of the armor is that it confers resistance to Force damage while in normal or damaged state. Its physical properties are from the technology and materials used to fuse the thin layers of flexible steel and polyceramic over a flex mesh, adapting to any humanoid body type or size on first use. This gives it a very streamlined and futuristic look that may draw attention if seen openly, but which is thin enough to be worn under normal clothing.

Its main advantage is that it's a light armor that allows the full DEX bonus in the AC calculation, and no penalty to stealth rolls, while still conferring a base 18 AC.

Padded armor consists of quilted layers of cloth and batting.
