This black pen is engraved with the Infernal characters for "Cathphus" and occasionally whispers in a variety languages to whoever is attuned to it. The pen can be used as a spellcasting focus.

The pen has 5 charges, which are all regained at dawn. While holding it, you can use an action and expend any number of charges to speak its command word. Spending one charge allows you to summon any Monstrosity creature with a Challenge Rating of 1/2. Spending two charges allows you to summon any Monstrosity creature with a Challenge Rating of 1.  Summoned creatures use their normal stats. Summoned creatures are friendly to you and your companions, and take their turn immediately after yours in combat. Summoned creatures last one minute before melting away into pools of black ink.

While attuned to this item, you gain advantage on any checks involved with writing, and gain proficiency with the Calligraphy Kit.
