Weapon (longbow), very rare (requires attunement by a person with STR 16 and DEX 16)

This bow is one of many sealed away relics of the Forgotten Era, with texts portraying the weapon as one to be the harbinger of eternal agony and suffering. This bow is imbued with the wrath of nature spirits, those who were sacrificed in the Era for forbidden rituals, which resulted in this bow's creation as a byproduct. The bow's appearance looks beautiful, with it made from a branch of one of the oldest trees to exist, yet the rage of the spirits makes it terrifying at the same time, with a series of black thorns entwining around the limbs of the  bow and handle. While there's enough room to fit a hand, and the thorns move aside to fit the comfort of the attuned user's grip, this weapon gives a painful thought to anyone with the intention to try to steal it from it's user, but does not actually stop them from trying.

Mechanically, this bow is a magic longbow at a +1 to hit and damage rolls with this weapon, has 10 charges, and the user can expend those charges with every attack they make with it at range. If the shot is enhanced by the bow, the arrows themselves grow small thorns along their shaft, and should they hit their intended target, the thorns suddenly grow, attempting to ensnare the target in their tracks. If the target is hit with a charged arrow, they must make a strength saving throw against the user's DC (8 + proficiency modifier  + wisdom or intelligence modifier), with Large creatures and bigger having advantage on their save. Should the target fail, they are ensnared, and have a move speed of 0 until the end of their next turn, or if they are freed by an ally before their turn. Should the target succeed in their initial save, their movement is decreased by 10, instead of being ensnared, and this part of the effect can only occur once while the target is ensnared by this effect, or if the target succeeded in their saving throw that turn.

If the target is ensnared by this weapon's effect, and the user has additional attacks aimed at the target, each subsequent charged arrow instead deals an additional 1d6 piercing damage.

The bow does not regenerate charges normally, only the blood of the living that bathe the weapon will grant charges to the bow, with the cost being 5 health for one charge, 10 health for 1d4 charges, 15 health for 1d8 charges, and 20 health for 1d10 charges. The user can willingly offer their own HP to gain charges, otherwise when used as a improvised melee weapon, the damage is always Piercing, and is wielded similarly like a shortsword for modifiers and base damage, and damage should be calculated, as the accumulated damage can be spent to give different values for charge rolls. (I.E., attacking, and inflicting 5 points of damage can grant a charge, however if saved and the next turn the user inflicts 5 more points of damage, they can roll a 1d4 for charges, etc.). If the weapon is used to bring an opponent's HP to 0 when used as a melee weapon, the damage is calculated, in addition to gaining one charge, as the vines on the weapon kills the target, despite the user's intent to kill or not. The calculated damage is consumed automatically at the end of combat, and any damage left over disappears from the caculations.

If out of charges, the weapon with thirst for the user's vitality for nourishment to fully regain it's charges. From dusk to dawn, the weapon's vines will reach for the attuned user, and forcibly take vitality to restore it's charges at the 20 health value, in which the DM rolls for the result of charges regained. If this happens during a long rest, the user regains all health but the stolen 20 health.

Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
