This powerful gold and silver sword has a long transparent green blade and shines with ethereal power. While attuned to the sword, you gain the following benefits in addition to those the different forms share.
When a creature attunes to this sword, it changes form in order to adapt to the wielder and takes on additional qualities according to the that creature's alignment. Each form has a unique shape and personality. This form represents those of good alignment, where the Tranquil Form represents neutral alignment and the Shadow Form represents those of evil alignment.
Font of Power
The sword does not source its energy or power from the weave or any divine being. Instead, an obscure rift allows the item to source its own energy. Due to this property, it is unaffected by most effects intended to dispel magical properties, and can be used as a focus in order to cast spells in such an environment.
Magic Weapon
The Aegis Blade is a magic weapon that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.
Random Properties
The sword has 1 minor beneficial property and 1 major beneficial property, each determined by rolling on the properties tables in chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide.
Sentient
The Aegis Blade is sentient with an Intelligence of 16, a Wisdom of 20, and a Charisma of 18. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 60 ft. and truesight to a distance of 15 ft.
Each form of the sword has a personality of its own that speaks telepathically to its wielder. When attuned for long enough, the sword will manifest an ethereal humanoid form determined by the DM that is visible only to the wielder and nearby creatures chosen by the sword. Each personality has a desire to be fulfilled and will withhold the true power of the sword until they feel the wielder's intentions are aligned to theirs.
To this form, righteousness will prevail and light will be given to all. This blade is kind and encourages the wielder to protect those who are unable to defend themselves. Striking down an opponent deemed worthy of death will satisfy them, but they will often request mercy when the opponent displays innocence or pleads for their life.
If you are forced to change alignment, or take enough actions to suggest a change in alignment, the blade will attempt to overcome you and possess your body. If you fail a DC 20 Charisma saving throw, it succeeds, and you become an NPC under the DM's control until they are banished using magic such as the dispel evil and good spell. On a success or after the personality is dispelled, the blade becomes inert and cannot be attuned to for a week.
Shared Vision
You gain darkvision to a distance of 60 ft. and truesight to a distance of 15 ft.
Future-sight
You have advantage on initiative rolls, and while wielding this sword you can use your reaction to gain supernatural reflexes and make an immediate attack with this sword on an enemy within range. Until the start of your next turn you gain the following benefits:
- You have advantage on all Dexterity saving throws
- Your AC increases by 5.
- Enemies can't have advantage on attack rolls against you
This skill has four charges, regaining all charges at dawn.
Curse
This sword is cursed, and it extends the curse to you upon attunement. As long as you remain cursed, you are unwilling to part with the sword, keeping it within reach at all times.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Sense: Truesight, Sense: Darkvision, Advantage: Initiative, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, creature of any good alignment, Damage, Combat, Shapechanging, Warding, Cursed, Sentient, Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze
