This is the armor Asmodeus himself wears. It appears just as a large elaborate robe, with black scale plates beneath. This armourment has runes inlaid throughout in infernal which read: "Enforce Obedience Through Bloodline". However, underneith, the armor has veins coursing throughout its make. When it is put on, the robe fuses with the user's flesh via sharp needles, and draws from their power. The more powerful the user, the stronger the armor's power.
While wearing this armor, you gain a +4 bonus to AC, and you can understand and speak infernal. In addition, the armor's clawed gauntlets turn unarmed strikes with your hands into magic weapons that deal slashing damage, with a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls and a damage die of 1d8.
Random Properties
Asmodeus' Blood Vein has the following random properties:
- 1 minor beneficial property
- 2 major beneficial property
- 1 minor detrimental property
- 2 major detrimental property
Curse. Once you don this cursed armor, you can't doff it unless you are targeted by the remove curse spell or similar magic. While wearing the armor, you have disadvantage on attack rolls against devils and on saving throws against their spells and special abilities (unless you are Asmodeus himself). A creature who manages to attune to the armour with fire resistance, but somehow loses it before unattuning, starts to take fire damage. The creature takes 3d6 fire damage at the start of each of their turns until fire resistance is regained or the armor is removed.
Heated Metal. Whenever a creature makes an unarmed strike against you (by claw, slam, punch, or otherwise unprotected in nature), they take 1d6 + half your total character level (rounded down) fire damage for each strike made against you (even if it doesn't hit).
Magical Resistance. While attuned to this magic armor, you have advantage on saving throws against spells of 6th level or lower not cast by devils.
Surge Spell (1/day). When you cast a spell of a sixth level spell slot or less, you can opt to cast it as if using a spell slot 1 higher than the one used (even if you do not have a spell slot of that level). After using this ability, you must wait until the next dawn before being able to use it again.
Surge Power. You can create a powerful surge of energy to bolster your attacks. As a bonus action, you can spend an amount of your hit points of your choice to increase the damage of an attack. The damage is equal to half the hit points spent and the additional damage is always considered magical necrotic. You can choose to do this after your attack hits, but before damage dice are rolled. The defender's maximum hit points are temporarily reduced by the amount of necrotic damage taken. Your maximum hit points are also temporarily reduced by the amount of hit points spent. The decrease in maximum hit points done by this ability can not be regained until finishing a short or long rest. No magical effect or ability can prevent the maximum hit point reduction, or restore them, unless you are Asmodeus himself. This includes effects that specifically call out the prevention of hit point reduction.
Destroying the Blood Vein. The blood vein can be destroyed by being frozen solid in ice by an Ancient White Dragon's breath.
This armor consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.
Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Disadvantage: Saving Throws, Advantage: Saving Throws, Language: Infernal, creature with fire resistance or immunity, Damage, Combat, Warding, Cursed, Stealth Disadvantage
