Your proficiency with Alchemist's supplies grants you a greater understanding of acids and their properties. Using your Alchemist's supplies you can change the properties of basic acid by using a long rest to boil them down to a different form that no longer damages living flesh but instead effects copper, iron, steel, silver, and gold. As an action, you can splash the contents of this vial onto a creature or item within 5 feet of you or throw the vial up to 20 feet, shattering it on impact. In either case, make a ranged attack against a creature or object, treating the acid as an improvised weapon. If the vial is thrown and misses its intended target, it damages any metallic item in the 5 foot square it lands in if it shatters.
During a long rest you can attempt to make one vial of Acid of Corrosion by boiling down (2) vials of basic acid using your Alchemist's supplies. This process requires a general intelligence roll plus your proficiency modifier, the result of which dictates the potency of the final product.
- DC 10 or below: The process does not work, and the acid is rendered into an unusable form.
- DC 11-15: You create a Basic Acid of Corrosion that can be dripped or poured into/onto one small non-magical metal works such as a locking mechanism, chain, piece of jewelry, clockwork device, or metal bar. This lowers the pick or break AC requirement of any such piece by 3, and any item completely submerged in this acid for 5 -1D4 hours is destroyed, rendering the item and the acid useless.
- DC 16-20: You create a Greater Acid of Corrosion that, as well as the property above, can be poured or splashed onto one non-magical metal weapon or three pieces of ammunition. The acid takes 4 -1D4 rounds to take effect, and after this time it reduces the damage of the weapon by 2 or destroys the ammunition, and renders the acid useless. If the weapon is silvered the acid de-silvers the weapon but does not effect its damage. Any metal weapon completely submerged in this acid for 8 -1D4 hours is destroyed, rendering the item and the acid useless.
- DC 20 and above: You create a +2 Acid of Corrosion that, as well as the properties above, can be poured or splashed onto one piece of metal armor. A +2 Acid of Corrosion can effect magical items, but does not remove the magical property. The acid takes 4 -1d4 rounds take effect, and after this time it reduces the AC of the armor by 1. Any armor completely submerged in this acid for 12 -1D4 hours is destroyed, rendering the item and the acid useless.
