Armor (plate), artifact

A set of intricate gold plated armor decorated with dozens of rubies with a single, palm-sized, circular, empty cavity in the center of the breast of the chest piece.

Requires attunement by a Cleric or Paladin.

Protection of the Sun. You have a +2 bonus to AC while wearing this set of plate armor. While wearing this armor you are resistant to radiant damage.

The armor has 5 charges and regains all its charges after a long rest.

Sunlight Strike. As a bonus action on your turn, you may use one of it's charges to call on the radiant might of the Sun Father. The next weapon attack you make is treated as if you had used a level 1 spell slot in the Divine Smite Paladin ability. If you are a Paladin who is capable of Divine Smite you may choose to use additional spell slots to increase the damage just as you would when using your own Divine Smite. This damage cannot exceed the maximum of 5d8 radiant damage.

Light's Warmth. The chest piece of the armor glows as vibrant as the sun. All light created from your person shines twice as bright as it normally would.

Once per day, recharges at dawn, as an action on your turn, you may use 3 of the armor's charges to cast Sunbeam using your spell save DC.

Divine Retribution. Additionally once per long rest, you can call upon the divine retribution of the Sun Father channeled through the cavity in the chest. When an enemy that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack you may use your reaction to have a beam of sunlight blast forth from your chest. The target takes 6d6 radiant damage or half as much on a successful Dexterity saving throw equal to your spell save DC.

A creature other than the target caught in the beam feels nothing but comforting warmth.

Additionally, regardless of location, you always know the direction of the nearest star.

Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
