Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement by a by a spellcaster)

This magical longsword is made from highly reflective silver. The sword has a number of charges equal to half your total character level rounded down. As an action, you can expend one charge to cast the Moonbeam spell from the blade without requiring the use of spell slots or components. When you do so, the duration of the spell is Instantaneous, and the range is either the normal range of the spell, or a line 40 feet long and 5 feet wide originating from the blade (your choice when you cast the spell). You can cast the spell at higher levels by expending an additional charge per level above 2nd.

As an action, you can expend one or more charges to create a shadowy duplicate of the longsword which you draw from the sword's hilt with your other hand. This duplicate has the same stats as the original weapon. The duplicate lasts for a number of minutes equal to the number of charges you expended to create it, or until you dismiss it as a free action. If you have both swords in hand, you can use the original and duplicate swords for two-weapon fighting even though they are not light. You can expend additional charges to apply any or all of the following effects to the weapon, each of which expends a single charge:

  • You can use the duplicate as a spellcasting focus.
  • The duplicate has a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
  • You have a +1 bonus to AC while the duplicate is active.
  • The duplicate uses your spellcasting modifier rather than Strength for your attack and damage rolls (even when used as your off-hand weapon for two-weapon fighting).
  • The duplicate deals psychic or necrotic damage (your choice when you apply this effect) rather than slashing.
  • The duplicate hovers in the air as an afterimage of the original sword. When you make an attack with the original, the duplicate makes an attack against the same target using the same attack roll. You cannot use both swords for two-weapon fighting while this effect is active.

The sword regains 1d6 charges each day at dawn.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
