Weapon (greatsword), artifact (requires attunement by a paladin or a cleric with a good or neutral alignment)

"My son, there will come a day when you will command the Ashbringer, and with it mete out justice across this land. I have no doubt that when that day finally comes, you will bring pride to our people, and that land will be a better place because of you. But, my son, that day is not today."

You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

The Ashbringer deals an additional 4d6 radiant damage to fiends and undead creatures.

The Ashbringer has the following random properties:

  • 1 Major beneficial property
  • 1 Minor beneficial property

Exorcising Strike: On a critical hit against fiends and undead creatures, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw (DC18), if it has less than 100 hit points and fails, it immediately dies and crumbles to dust, leaving behind only its magical items. This permanently kills the creature even if they are not on their plane of origin. On a successful save, the effect fails but the creature takes an additional 4d6 radiant damage.

Wake of Ashes: You unleash the power of the divine to smite down your enemies. As an action, you swing Ashbringer and all hostile creatures in a 60 feet cone in front of you must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC18) or take 5d10 radiant damage. On a successful save a creature takes half damage. You can expend one spell slot to deal additional radiant damage, in addition to this feature's damage. The extra damage is 2d10 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d10 for each Spell Level higher than 1st, to a maximum of an additional 5d10. Once you use this feature, you can't use this again until you finish a long rest.

Channel Divinity: Expel Evil: You channel your divine energy through the orichalcum core, creating a shield against unnatural creatures. As an action, you expend a use of your channel divinity feature, granting you advantage against all attack rolls made against fiends and undead creatures for 1 minute. Additionally, while a fiend or an undead is within 30 feet of you, they have disadvantage on attack rolls against you.

Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
