This ring can partially absorb the energy of an incoming spell and use that stored energy to boost spells.
This ring has 5 charges. if the wearer is targeted or in the area affected by a spell and that is being cast using a higher than base spell slot they can use their reaction and charges to reduce the effects by 1 slot level per charge. Multiple charges can be used but the effect cannot be lowered below the spell's base level. The wearer knows both the spells base level and the level it is being cast at. The ring recharges 1d4+1 charges after a long rest.
Spell levels absorbed by the ring are held until the end of the wearers next turn and can be used to cast spells as if using higher spell slots. Spells cast must be scalable and absorbed spell levels do not allow spells to be cast at a higher level than the caster can cast. (Ex. Wearer of ring (a 7th level cleric) is in area of Fireball spell cast at 5th level. They use their reaction and expend 2 charges from the ring (cannot lower it below Fireball's base 3rd level). The spell effect is as a 3rd level Fireball although a 5th level slot is expended. The ring absorbs 2 levels. Before their next turn ends they use a 3rd level spell slot to cast Spirit Guardians and use a stored spell level to bump it to a 4th level spell (they can't make it a 5th level because 4th level is the highest they can cast.) That last stored slot dissipates at the end of their turn.
Notes: wearer must be targeted or in area of spells effect, by spellcaster, Warding, Jewelry
