This advanced crossbow is designed as a rudimentary alternative to firearms. Three crossbow bolts are attached to a mechanism on the forearm, which in turn is wrapped around the arm at the wrist and below the elbow. The bow itself collapses to run parallel with the forearm, and can be extended into a functioning bow by drawing a trigger from the underside of the forearm into the palm of the hand (and deactivated in the opposite way). Pressing the trigger releases one of the crossbow bolts.
Reload The weapon can be fired 3 times before you must spend one attack, action or bonus action to reload. You must have one free hand to reload the the crossbow
Misfire Whenever you make an attack roll with this weapon, and the dice roll is lower or equal to 2, the weapon misfires. The attack misses, and the weapon cannot be used again until you spend an action to try and repair it. To repair the weapon, you must make a successful Tinkering Check (Dexterity, DC 10). If your check fils, the weapon is broken and must be repaired out of combat at half of the cost of the weapon.
Tightly Wound On a critical hit, the weapon does an extra die of damage (on top of the double damage dice roll). On a critical miss, the weapon misfires and the snapped string deals 1d4 slashing damage to the wearer.
Pressure Pad The wearer cannot wield any item that would require tight grip (e.g. a second weapon, shield, or magic item) in the same hand as the Crossbow
Short Range The range of the weapon is 30ft, with no range thereafter.
Proficiency with a Hand Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Ammunition, Light, Loading, Range, Vex

Posted Sep 22, 2021This is a great weapon, I added it to my game with a couple of slight modifications.
Only one was very important, and that's making the reload an action, rather than bonus action.
