A creature may only be attuned to one of these gems at a time. As part of this attunment, the creature must meditate for a short rest with this gem placed in the socket. If another gem has been in that socket within the past hour when the attunement begins, the new gem breaks as the previous energy flows into the gem, causing 4d6 of that gems damage type that cannot be reduced by any means.
A small gem stone that can be inserted to a weapon, given that the weapon has a place for these stones to be placed. The gem stone provides the weapon with magical damage to overcome damage resistances. Depending on the strength of both the gem and the weapon they are affixed to grants the amount of damage of a certain type shown later. The highest quality smith will be able to produce a pairing that will cause 4d6 of the gems damage on a hit in addition to the weapons damage. A moonstone fashioned in this way may act as a spell casting focus and depending on the pairing may potentially increase the casters Spell save DC and Spell Attack Rolls if affixed to a staff, rod or wand.
