This axe is made of dark steel with a wavy pattern of darker metal running through it. The handle is made of a hard dark wood wrapped in black dragon hide leather. On the base of the handle, a black gem is mounted. Etched into the blade are dwarven runes that proclaim this axe is a gift to Mark for his friendship and loyalty.
The Axe of Mark is a magic weapon that grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. When you use the Attack action to make a melee attack with it, you may use a bonus action to make a single attack with the weighted face of the axe (treat this like a +1 light hammer).
Axe Call. As long as the axe is within 60-feet of you and not held or otherwise restrained, you can call it to your hand as a bonus action.
Rooting Stike. While wielding the axe with two hands, you may take the Attack action to make a single attack with the axe. For this attack, it has the thrown property with a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet. When you hit with the Rooting Strike, it deals an extra 1d10 damage or, if the target is a dragon, 2d10 damage and the target cannot move until the end of your next turn. Once you hit with a Rooting Strike, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.
While attuned to this axe and carrying it, you gain the following benefits:
- Your Constitution score increases by 2, to a maximum of 20.
- You have resistance against acid damage.
- You have advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made to interact with dwarves.
- You can speak, read, and write Dwarvish.
- Twilight. You can use a bonus action to cause the axe to shed dim light in a 15-foot radius, or to extinguish the twilight. This dim light overwhelms any natural bright light or darkness. Contact with any magical light or darkness will end automatically extinguish the twilight. The dim light created by this feature doesn't impose disadvantage on your Wisdom (Perception) checks relying on sight.
Flaw. The Axe of Mark makes its wielder impatient with subtlety. While attuned to this weapon, you are unlikely to use stealth and subterfuge. You suffer disadvantage on Charisma (Deception) and Dexterity (Stealth) ability checks.
Proficiency with a Battleaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
Notes: Bonus: Constitution Score, Bonus: Magic, Language: Dwarvish, Resistance: Acid, barbarian, Versatile, Topple
