This weapon is designed to bring down a medium or smaller winged creature or inhibit a spellcaster by firing a bola and binding to its arms and/or wings. It can also be used to trip a running creature up to large size. A medium or smaller creature takes 1d8 bludgeoning damage, is knocked prone and is restrained. A large creature that has been tripped takes the same amount of damage but is knocked prone.
When a carrier bolt gets close to a target, the enchanted bola releases itself and spins towards the body of the creature. A acrobatics check DC 13 can dodge the attack. Once the bola has wrapped, only a DC 18 Strength check or a dispel magic spell can pull it free. The weapon has a range of 100/300 and requires 2 rounds to reload.
Proficiency with a Heavy Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Push. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can push the creature up to 10 feet straight away from yourself if it is Large or smaller.
