Attached to a sturdy length of rope is a golden claw. This claw has been enchanted with the ability to grasp onto and even pierce surfaces.

To throw the grappling hook you must make a Strength check equal to 10 + 2 per 10ft thrown. If you successfully get the grappling hook to the point you want, the claw at the end pierces into the surface around it. The claw can easily pierce wood and stone, but cannot pierce metal.

While in place the grappling hook can hold up to 500lbs. If there is more weight on the rope, there is a 50% chance the claw detaches from the surface. At the start of each round roll a d20, on an odd number the claw fails.

If the claw is targeted by dispel magic or another magical effect that cancels spells, the claw immediately detaches.
