When you attack an object with this magic sword and hit, maximize your weapon damage dice against the target.
When you attack a creature with this weapon and roll a 20 on the attack roll, that target takes an extra 14 slashing damage. Then roll another d20. If you roll a 20, you lop off one of the target's limbs, with the effect of such loss determined by the GM. If the creature has no limb to sever, you lop off a portion of its body instead.
In addition, the sword has the thrown property with a 20/60 range, and will return to your hand when thrown, unless caught by another creature. This counts as a ranged attack.
Because of its adamantine components, an attack on any physical object is an automatic critical success
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
Notes: Damage: Slashing, Maximize Weapon Damage, A gold and adamantine sword forged from the shards of Agammemnon, Damage, Combat, Versatile, Sap

Posted May 11, 2020It took me a while to read what this weapon does.
for example, put the first line about maximized damage after the part about criting objects; this will give it better flow and put related parts together.
secondly when you roll a 20 roll another d20 and if its 20 then lop something off. with 1 in 400 odds its about as cool as just doing the extra 14 damage.
It specifically says "20" and not "crit", is this intentional?
Because champion fighters have increased crit range and can't get that extra 14 damage on a roll of 19.
thirdly, how does one catch a flying sword? is it acrobatics or dexterity saving? what is the DC? can I hit it to the ground rather than catch it? does the monk's ability to catch arrows also work on this?
