This sentient weapon has such a desire to obtain glory that it will mold itself to your will. Once attuned, as a bonus action, you may alter the form of the weapon into any simple or martial weapon with which you are proficient. Use appropriate damage dice for the form that you choose. (The Altered Blade of Returning is biased towards martial weapons.)
Also while attuned, it also has the thrown property with a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet, regardless of form. When thrown within the normal range, the weapon may be called back to your hand as a free action. Each creature that lies between you and your weapon must succeed on a Dexterity Saving Throw (DC 13) when the weapon is called back to you. On a failed save, the creature suffers 1d4 bludgeoning damage or is pulled 5 feet towards you (your choice). On a successful save, the weapon returns to your hand normally.
When thrown at long range, the weapon does not travel through space to return, but instantly reappears in your hand.
This weapon's damage is not considered magical for the sake of overcoming resistances or immunity, nor does it provide ammunition for ranged weapons such as bows or crossbows.
Proficiency with a Handaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Damage, Combat, Light, Thrown, Vex
