A deep red ruby is set in an open shell of silver in the shape of a devil's heart. Once attuned the gem flares to life with inner light, which subsides to a soft red glow. The light pulses with the beat of your heart and the sound of your heart beating is always in the back of your mind. A blood hunter wearing this amulet gains the following benefits.
Spellblood. The user of the amulet can sacrifice a spell slot instead of their own hit points when they activate a Crimson Rite. When this is done the amount of bonus damage provide by the rite is equal to the spell slot level sacrificed times your current hemocraft die. For example a 1st level spell would be normal 1 hemocraft die, but a 3rd level would do 3 hemocraft die of damage instead.
Bloodweave. You can sacrifice a spell slot as a bonus action to regain a number of hit points equal to the spell slot level x your blood hunter level.
Bloodscaled. If you have 15 or more levels of blood hunter, you can remove the ruby inside the silver heart and throw it to the ground in front of you. When this happens the ruby shatters and the silver heart starts to bleed profusely. The blood swirls around you and you can choose between two commands that the blood will follow:
Scaled: The blood swirling around crawls up your legs and covers your body, and then hardens in the shape of scales that are as strong as steel. You AC becomes 18 + Dex mod + Con mod, this does not prevent you from benefiting from armor enchantment or a shield. This lasts for 1 hour.
Blood: The swirling blood surrounds you and enters your body transforming it into a writhing mass of blood that then assumes the form of a pit fiend. Your body transforms into a blood composed likeness of a pit fiend with the same abilities as a standard specimen. This lasts for 1 minute. This form functions like wild shape in regard to dropping to zero hit points while in devil form.
Once the Bloodscaled feature has been used it takes 1d4 days to recharge as the ruby regrows inside the heart.
