Lord Oriax Illithir, half of the legendary Bringers of Dawn, vowed to defend the mortal plane from evils along side his partner Kapesk, the Great Sorcerer. This duo is most well known for defeating the Odium Council of Mindflayers and saving the world from eternal darkness. This obsidian shield, forged for the mighty Oriax, can only be wielded by the strongest of warriors willing to do as the Bringers of Dawn vowed to do. Divine energy can be channeled through this artifact to aid a worthy paladin in their battles.
You can cast Detect Good and Evil at will while wielding this shield.
The Aegis of the Dawnbringer has 3 charges and regains 1d4 charges to a max of 3 at dawn each day. When you get hit with a melee attack while wielding this shield, you can use your reaction to expend a charge and deal 3d8 radiant damage to any enemy creatures within a 15 foot cone from you. When you expend a charge and the damage is dealt, you are enveloped by a shimmering field of radiant energy. Until the start of your next turn, your Armor Class increases by 1.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
