Arcane twin tattoo's,
These matching tattoo's are placed on the left part of the chest above the heart region and appears to be some sort of metallic color. They are infused with magic by meaning of an arcane ritual performed during the actual tattooing.
The dragonic twin binding ritual.
The tattoo emits an arcane light, which gets stronger the closer both twins/ triples physically are. When both twins stand next to each other or touch each other a powerful light aura is emitted. The ink appears to be semi-sentient in that way it's patterns can move in circular or wave like patterns, sudden movements are also possible. It is stated that these movements represent the mood of the canvas.
This semi-sentient state makes it possible for the tattoo to feel some sort of pain. Mostly visible when hit physically, in which it emits a strong light flash that only effects the attacker.
The tattoo also appears to grow as the bond between the twins grows stronger. this growth is visible as tribal, bio-mechanical, techno-magical or rune like patterns that first appears on the left chest, shoulder and arm. but can eventually cover the complete body. These new extensions of the tattoo share the same magical properties as the initial tattoo. Still part of the same magical neural network, it will emit an arcane blinding light when physically assaulted by his canvas's opponent.
Even after the death of one of the twins the tattoo is still able to grow. As parts of the dead twin's soul will reside in the living twin's tattoo and act as a guarding spirit.
When one of the twins die his/her initial tattoo will appear on his/ her brother's/ sister's body. A boarder will appear around each part of the survivor's tattoo and his extensions. This in the color of the lost sibling's tattoo. The light will first fade away completely but after a few hours it will appear to breath light. Slowly intensifying an fading away. This on the same rhythm as the surviving twin. When concentrating he/ she is still able to recall the light aura.
When wanted the tattoo can also be projected on the owner's clothes and armor. When the tattoo is large enough [10th] it is able to migrate to (magical) shields as well. These projections have the same magical properties as the ink on the skin. Meaning that they can emit a blinding light when physically and unwilling hit.
Since the initial tattoo is placed above the heart, where most magic energy resides, spell-casters can use this arcane tattoo as a casting focus. When casting spells, the tattoo's light will strengthen and will spread in a pulse/ wave like pattern across all the extensions, following the stream of arcane energy within the body. Very powerful spells can even trigger the light aura for a brief moment.
strength of the light emitted by the tattoo:
- more than 1 mile: the tattoo doesn't appear to glow or emit any light at all.
- 100 feet to 1 mile: The tattoo appears to glow but doesn't emit physical light.
- 10 to 100 feet: the tattoo emits 1 foot dim light.
- 0 to 10 feet: twins standing close or next to each other. A bright aura of arcane light begins to grow from their tattoo and continues growing until their entire body is covered with light. This aura emits a 10-foot radius of bright light and an additional 10 feet of dim light.
- touch: when the twins touch each other they can hold their aura for up to 3 minutes, after which the strength of the emitted light returns to its normal state according to the distance between the two siblings.
Sentient ink:
When hit by piercing, slashing or bludgeoning damage (only weapons, no spell) as a reaction you must role a DC20 1d20 + {{(characterlevel/2)@roundup}} . If succeeded the attacker must make a DC25 constitution saving throw or role a crit. If failed the opponent is blinded until the end of its next turn. This arcane light isn't effected by any physical or magical obstruction. Supposing the attacking creature has some sort of eyes.
Guarding spirit:
When one of the twins die, the surviving twin gets a +1AC bonus. Which gets activated after his next long rest.
The light emitted by the tattoo can be activated/ disabled with a simple thought, which takes no action
