While it may look like a normal apron on the outside, this average-looking piece of clothing holds a secret. This apron has a pocket which has an interior space considerably larger than its outside dimensions, roughly 4 inches in diameter at the mouth and seemingly only 4 and a half inches deep, although it seems to stretch wider than should be possible to accommodate items larger than its own opening. The pocket can hold up to 150 pounds, not exceeding a volume of 32 cubic feet. The apron weighs 2 pounds, regardless of its contents. Retrieving an item from the apron pocket requires an action.
If the apron pocket is overloaded, pierced, or torn, it ruptures and the pocket's magic is destroyed, and its contents scatter over a 50-foot area. If the pocket is turned inside out, its contents spill forth directly in front of the user, unharmed, but the pocket must be put right before it can be used again. Unlike a bag of holding, breathing creatures cannot survive in the pocket, and will begin to suffocate immediately.
Placing an apron of holding inside an extradimensional space created by a bag of holding, portable hole, or similar item instantly destroys both items and opens a gate to the Astral Plane. The gate originates where the one item was placed inside the other. Any creature within 10 feet of the gate is sucked through it to a random location on the Astral Plane. The gate then closes. The gate is one-way only and can't be reopened.
