This powerful yet cursed Greataxe has been forged from the bones of slain victims whom were murdered for their material possessions. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Cursed: The previous owners soul lies within the weapon, and along with it their lust for material wealth. Upon attunement, its owner gains a strong desire to attain material wealth. Becoming attuned to it extends the curse to you. As long as you remain cursed, you are unwilling to part with the Axe, keeping it on your person at all times. While attuned to this weapon, you have disadvantage on attack rolls made with weapons other than this one.
You can break the curse in the usual ways. Alternatively, casting banishment on the sword forces the vengeful spirit to leave it.
Once per turn as a bonus action, the axes head can alter its appearance in slight ways as the bones of the slain shift with the following effects:
Spiked: The axes head shifts into multiple sharp pointed edges, for piercing its victims. Critical hits grant an extra 1d8 Piercing damage.
Blade: The axes head becomes one long sharp edge, for cleaving its foes in two. Critical hits cleave into another unsuspecting creature within melee range (if the only other creature within range is friendly then it strikes them instead) dealing 1d10.
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.

Posted May 28, 2020Fixed a few grammatical errors, and changed the shape change effect to once per turn to add more depth to the combat, as the cleave can hit allies if there's only one opponent to attack.
