You can use an action to crush the tiny vial embedded within' the shaft of the arrow. This causes a thick, black poison to coat the arrow. The poison remains for 1 minute or until an attack using this weapon hits a creature. That creature must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 2d10 poison damage and become poisoned for 1 minute. In addition, the targets total maximum hit points decrease by the number of the poison damage dealt. If they reach zero hit points within' the minute of this affect, they will die.
The maximum hit points of those pierced by the arrow will reset back to normal after a long rest.
Other types of magic ammunition of this kind exist, such as bolts of the black sleep meant for a crossbow, though arrows are most common.
Notes: Damage: Poison, Poisoned, Damage, Debuff, Combat
