A golden amulet that is worn around the neck, holding a central ruby in the shape of a heart. On the back of the amulet is an old Elvish inscription: "True strength comes to the pure of heart".
The amulet can only be attuned when the bearer embodies determination in battle by refusing to run in the face of mortal danger and impossible odds. Once activated, the ruby begins to glow alongside the Elvis inscription, filling the bearer with resolute courage. For the duration of the battle, you receive +1 to Constitution and Wisdom and gain temporary hit points equal to half their current hit dice. During the course of this battle, if the bearer receives any damage that would take them below 0 hp, they can instead will themselves to ignore the damage with a DC 10 Constitution check, taking a level of exhaustion instead.
Damage resisted in this way should be tallied separately and applied once the battle concludes, with one failed death save per level of exhaustion if the bearer falls unconscious. If the total ever becomes equal or above the bearer's maximum hp in battle, the bearer instantly succumbs to their accumulated damage and falls dead.
