A double-stringed longbow that can be used as a normal longbow by someone proficient with that weapon. A character with Exotic Weapon Proficiency can use it to fire two arrows at once. After the two arrows have been fired it is reloaded and used as a normal longbow, to double notch the bow the player must expend 10ft of movement and a bonus action.
The Arcane Double bow is unique as it splits magical effects onto arrows fired from it, allowing the Arcane archer to fire 2 arrows with their magic shot effect at one time while only using one charge.
Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
Notes: Arcane Archer, Ammunition, Heavy, Range, Two-Handed, Slow

Posted Jun 14, 2020As a DM and player of 5e hearing of a bow from 3.5 that allowed versatility and creativity such as this is astounding. Seeing that the arcane archer is viewed as a weaker fighter subclass My player and I have come up with this solution to aid the archer keep pace with his party members. Fighters do not start with Exotic weapon proficiency so this is something the fighter must put time into and it is also a great way for a DM to pace the optimization of certain builds. This is still being play tested in my campaign and from my notes it allows the archer to make a deadly first shot in combat and then transition into whatever role the fighter likes whether it be the sniper or run and gun archer. Please leave thoughts on this or anything that could be exploited that I might not have thought of.
Thanks,
