You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
The weapon holds three charges of the Remove Curse spell.
Elail Mazen was Waterdeep's Chief Rat Catcher, a position that he discharged with the utmost seriousness. It was said that no rat, above or below the streets, was safe from Elail and his enormous axe.
While many considered hunting rats with a greataxe to be overkill, Elial insisted that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right.
The true reason he wielded such a mighty weapon was somewhat darker. As a young man, Elial had seen his wife and infant son dragged into the tunnels below the city by Wererats.
He took what appeared to be a menial job as an exterminator, and for fifteen years waged a ceaseless crusade against the rodent-folk beneath the city.
The blessings of a sympatric priest kept him safe from the Wererat's curse and more than once he crawled from the sewers to the temple doorstep, bitten and bleeding.
One fateful morning the priest awoke to find that Elial had arrived too late. He lay on the temple steps a broken man, half way transformed into one of the beasts he so despised.
Knowing in his heart that Elial would rather die than become that which he hated, the priest took up his axe and whispered a prayer of forgiveness to his god, before striking him down.
Hearing the priest's prayer, his god blessed Elial's mighty weapon, so that other's may follow in his footsteps.
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
