Wondrous Item, artifact (requires attunement by a creature with a humanoid arm.)

The Arm of the Leech is an arm which is pressed upon those that only take from others for their own benefit. The arm is from a powerful lich that would simple touch a person to take away and feast on their souls. Vecna, being the god of liches, saw this lich as competition and had them taken apart limb by limb. This was supposedly the only piece that remains of that lich.

To attune to the Arm of the Leech, you must cut off your right arm at the elbow and press the artifact against the stump. The arm grafts itself to your arm and acts as a functioning arm. The arm appears skeletal, even when attuned to it.

Random Properties. The Arm of the Leech has the following properties:

  • 2 Minor Beneficial Properties
  • 1 Major Beneficial Property
  • 2 Minor Detrimental Properties
  • 2 Major Detrimental Properties

Properties of the Arm. While attuned to the arm, you can make an unarmed strike against a creature, on hit, the spell "Vampiric Touch" is casted on the target. The "Vampiric Touch" is cast at 5th level. On hit you can attempt to grapple the target (the target has disadvantage on the save/check.) While a target is grappled, you can use your action to continue to cast "Vampiric Touch" on them, and if you use an action to do anything else you let go, the target is no longer grappled, and the spell ends. This effect fails if the target has no exposed skin and the arm cannot make skin to skin contact. If the arm is attuned to a creature and something else touches the arm, it is treated as if the target had made the unarmed strike against it.

Spellcasting. The arm has 7 Charges. You can use an action to expend 1 or more charges to cast one of the following spells (save DC 20) from it: False Life (1 Charge), Blindness/Deafness (2 Charges), Bestow Curse (3 Charges), Shadow of Moil (4 Charges), Enervation (5 Charges), Harm (6 Charges) or Finger of Death (7 Charges). If you so choose, you can spend 1 additional charge to cast the spell a single level higher. You Regain 1D6+1 Charges daily at Dawn. Whenever you cast a spell this way, there is a 25% chance that the spell's target is reversed, unless for an evil intent or assisting an evil action. For example, if you cast False Life, it would instead be cast at the nearest person to you.
