Armor (leather), varies (requires attunement by a creature with proficiency with the armor the Armor of Impersonating appears to be)

Note: the description says this is leather armor. This is only because, when making magic armor on DND Beyond, you have to pick a type of armor the item is, and there is no “varies” option.

The Armor of Impersonating appears to be a type of magical armor of equal rarity to the Armor of Impersonating. For instance, a rare of Armor of Impersonating might appear as Elven Chainmail.

Cursed: This armor is cursed. Any creature who succeeds in attuning to the Armor of Impersonating must succeed a Wisdom save when they first attune to the item and whenever they finish a long rest. The DC of the save depends on the rarity of the armor:           Uncommon: 15                                             Rare: 18                                                            Very Rare: 22                                       Legendary: 27

On a successful save, the armor functions as the armor it first appeared as and the character reverts to their normal self if they had previously failed. On a failed save, the armor functions as a nonmagical version of the armor it first appeared as. Additionally, on a failed save, the character believes they are somebody other than themself and acts as they believe that person would. They and their clothes and armor also are transformed to be the appear the exact same as those of the person, however they have their own equipment, not that person’s equipment, and they not change their ability scores.
Though the character’s armor and worn magical items do not appear while transformed, they can still be used.

The person is chosen by the DM. The person might be another person in the campaign, a fictional person, or maybe even that character’s player or somebody else from reality.

In case this isn’t clear: when the word “character” is used, I mean the PC. When person is used, I mean the one the character believes they are.

This item may need some tweaking if for some reason somebody actually wants to use this.

The breastplate and shoulder protectors of this armor are made of leather that has been stiffened by being boiled in oil. The rest of the armor is made of softer and more flexible materials.

Notes: creature with proficiency with the armor the Armor of Impersonating appears to be, Shapechanging, Cursed, Outerwear
