A pike crafted by storm giants, ascalon pikes have a defensive guard beneath the spearhead and a crescent shaped blade at the shoe. Mastery of this weapon results in a wielder capable of thrusting (with the spearhead) and slashing (with the bladed shoe) in multiple directions while also being able to use the guard to deflect an opponent's attack. For this reason true masters of the weapon disdain fighting in the ranked formations typically associated with pikes, but rather prefer to fight in open spaces that allow for the maneuvering necessary to fully utilize this unusual weapon.
In addition to the usual properties of a pike, an ascalon pike is bulky (-5' movement) and defensive (+1 AC). As well, wielders with the polearm master feat do slashing damage instead of bludgeoning when using a bonus action to attack with the shoe of the weapon.
Proficiency with a Pike allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Push. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can push the creature up to 10 feet straight away from yourself if it is Large or smaller.
