Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement by a wizard/artificer/sorcerer. The owner must open the watch and say "The greatest magic of all is Chronomancy, the magic of time," and keep the watch in their pocket for 1 hour.)

A gold pocket watch that is ornately carved all over, with the initials "AA" engraved on the back. The dial appears to be hand-numbered and there is a faint spiral pattern on the surface that expands outward from the center. There is a winding stem on top, and a small slide lever on the side.

  • The watch can hold 1 charge, as long as the watch is wound.
  • The charge can be consumed by pressing the slide lever on the side to briefly pause time and take an extra turn.
  • After the spell effect ends, roll a D20. On a Nat 1, you hear a pop within the watch, and it stops working. It needs to be repaired before it will work again.
  • The watch can hold 2-3 days' charge in the mainspring, and must be wound within the last 48h to guarantee function. If the watch has not specifically been wound in the last 48h, then roll a flat DC10 check to see if it will activate.

Repair: If the watch has stopped, an artificer that has proficiency with jeweler's tools can make a DC15 Sleight of Hand check to attempt to repair it and restore 1 charge during a long rest. On a Nat 1, the Dragonshard jewels in the movement shatter, losing all magic energy and breaking beyond repair. Only one repair attempt can be made per long rest.

A wise man once declared, "The greatest magic of all is Chronomancy, the magic of time!"

Notes: wizard/artificer/sorcerer. The owner must open the watch and say "The greatest magic of all is Chronomancy, the magic of time," and keep the watch in their pocket for 1 hour.
