Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement by a creature of any non-good alignment)

This blade of crimson steel has a ruby infused in the pommel, and images of torture and agony engraved in the hilt and handle. The blade has an unnatural sheen, making it seem as though it is constantly dripping blood.

This magical sword gives a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it, and has 8 charges.  The wielder can use charges for the following effects:

-Using 1 charge allows the wielder to cast Inflict Wounds at 1st level. The casting level increases with each additional charge used (2 for 2nd level, 3 for 3rd, etc.)

-Using 2 charges allows the wielder to infuse the sword with necrotic energy, dealing an extra 2d10+3 necrotic damage on their next attack. Hit points lost as a result of this effect can only be recovered on a long rest.

-Using 3 charges allows the wielder to cast Negative Energy Flood.

-Using 4 charges allows the wielder to cast Danse Macabre at 5th level.

The blade regains 1d4+1 charges every dawn. If the last charge is used, the sword goes into a dormant, non-responsive state for a number of days equal to the number of charges that were last used. The bonuses still apply, but no spells can be cast from it. Once the sword awakens, it regains all charges.

The sword is sentient, and has the following ability scores: Int 18, Wis 12, Cha 16. The personality inhabiting the sword is malevolent and extremely bloodthirsty, and if it is not used to inflict damage of any sort at least once weekly, it will expend 1 of its own charges and cast Inflict Wounds on whoever picks it up next to sate its hunger for pain and agony.

The ruby can be used as a focus for spellcasting, for both the spells provided by the sword and spells the wielder may know, if any.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
