When an attuned creature dons the mask, they take on an illusory appearance of the creature depicted by the mask. It functions as disguise self, only with no height difference limit. The attuned creature also has advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks made to act like they're actually the creature that they are disguised as.
Curse: This mask is cursed, and becoming attuned to it extends the curse to the attuned person. If they ever use the mask in a malicious (even playfully so) way, there will be a 10% chance that the curse takes effect.
If it does, the cursed person finds themself unable to remove the mask, and thereby unable to remove the illusion. If the mask stays on for 10 days straight at this point, the illusory appearance becomes real; all physical statistics are replaced by the physical statistics of the creature depicted on the mask, and spellcasters can no longer use magic. Until now, the curse was able to be removed by remove curse or similar magic. Now, it can only be removed by greater restoration or similar higher-leveled magic. After 3 more days, the mental statistics are replaced by the chosen creature type, as is alignment. If the curse progresses to this point, it can only be removed via the wish spell. At this point, the attuned creature is now entirely the creature whose visage was on the mask, retaining only certain characteristics of personality. However, the creature is permanently weakened; they can't benefit from any racial traits of their new form or their old.
