The lodecoin is an iron coin about an inch and a half (40mm) in diameter. It feels like it weighs a bit more than it should for its size. The coin's front depicts a smiling devil's face, while the obverse side shows an ancient and indecipherable rune (whose meaning has been lost to the ravages of time). If Detect Magic is cast on the coin, it will show a moderate Transmutation aura, but the intent of the item will not be discovered.

A character who is proficient in History may make a History roll to attempt to decipher the rune. A result of 29 or higher is needed to determine that the rune is an ancient curse whose general meaning may be summed up as "Be careful what you wish for".

The lodecoin is a cursed item. When placed in an enclosed space with coins made of more precious metals (platinum, gold, electrum, silver, bronze or copper) it will turn one random coin PER ROUND to iron.
