This weapon was designed and built by Dr. Alphonse Schmidt for the soul purpose of killing a lot people at once just waiting for someone to come a long and try it out.

Overclocked: when the Zeus Canon is overclocked it allows you to deal an additional 1d12 lightning damage to base attacks as well as giving you the lightning bolt spell and chain lightning spells. When attacking while overclocked you have to make a dc16 Dexterity saving throw or suffer as much damage as you would deal to the enemy and your Zues canon breaks.

Chain Lightning: you create a bolt of lightning that arcs toward a target of your choice that you can see within range. Three bolts then leap from that target to as many as three other targets, each of which must be within 30 feet of the first target. A target can be a creature or an object and can be targeted by only one of the bolts. A target must make a Dexterity saving throw. The target takes 10d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Lightning Bolt: a stroke of lightning forming a line 100 feet long and 5 feet wide blasts out from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The lightning ignites flammable objects in the area that aren’t being worn or carried.

It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.
