Wondrous Item, rare

Celery. It looks like celery. It tastes like...it would be better with peanut butter. Kinda stringy.

Detect magic reveals conjuration, evocation, abjuration, and divination magic coming from the celery. This is not typical celery.

If one of the celery's four stalks is broken off, its shape and color shifts as it turns into an arrow. Roll on the chart below for each stalk broken off the celery to determine what type(s) of arrow(s) form. A magic arrow from the celery can only be used once. It is destroyed on impact unless otherwise noted in the roll table.

1. Wooden arrow with a carved vine snaking around its shaft - casts Entangle on a target hit with the arrow with a STR save DC 14 to avoid being restrained. The restrained target can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns. The vines grow 1d6 vine vegetables of the player's choice: cucumber, string beans, pea pods, pumpkins, or tomatoes. The vines disappear after one minute, but the vegetables remain.

2. Wooden arrow with tiny holes bored through it. Tiny insects crawl along its surface and in and out of the holes - casts Infestation on a target hit with the arrow with a CON save DC 14.

3. Wooden arrow humming with energy - does a d8 of damage in addition to the bow's regular damage. Roll a d6 to determine the damage type: 1 - Cold, 2 - Fire, 3 - Force, 4 - Psychic, 5 - Lightning, 6 - Thunder.

4. Plain wooden arrow with a very faint knocking sound coming from inside it - casts Knock on a target hit with the arrow. DM can impose a DC to successfully hit a challenging target object that is small, moving, behind cover, etc.

5. Wooden arrow with the wood twisted into a knot at the center - casts Arcane Lock on a target hit with the arrow. DM can impose a DC to successfully hit a challenging target object that is small, moving, behind cover, etc.

6. Hefty metal arrow with a molded fist at the end in place of an arrowhead - casts Push on a target hit with the arrow with a save DC of 14. Arrow's weight halves the range allowed by the bow.

7. Wooden arrow covered in ancient, unknown hieroglyphs - a creature shooting this arrow can whisper a message of 25 words or less to it, and a target hit by the arrow will hear the message telepathically, whether or not they share a common language. The target is not able to respond to the message. If the target has an intelligence score of 3 or lower or does not speak any languages, it unaffected by the message.

8. Hollow metal arrow, capped at the end - when this arrow hits, dark smoke billows from it in a 20-foot-radius sphere. The sphere spreads around corners, and its area is heavily obscured. It lasts for 30 minutes or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it.

9. Hollow metal arrow with a funnel-shaped end cap - wherever this arrow lands, the creature who shot it can hear through it as if they were in that space for up to 10 minutes.

10. Sturdy metal arrow with a 25 ft thin, strong rope attached to the end - will adhere securely to any surface it strikes. Arrow's weight halves the range allowed by the bow. Arrow is not destroyed on impact, but will last 30 minutes before disappearing.

Each day at dawn the celery regrows any of its four stalks that are missing, returning to its original state, and any unused arrows revert to being slightly wilted stalks of regular, non-magical celery. If eaten, roll a d4: on a 2-4 the celery is eaten successfully without incident but on a 1, the creature has celery strings caught in its teeth and it is mildly annoying. Creatures without teeth are immune to this effect.
