Weapon (longsword), rare

An Abyssal inscription on the blade of this rusted longsword reads "Thirst/Power" and a deep red ruby is embedded in the pommel. A DC5 Investigation check reveals that this gem clicks when pressed in. When the Abyssal Blade inflicts damage or otherwise comes in contact with blood, it draws the blood in through the blade’s edge and the inscriptions begin to glow faintly, becoming brighter until enough blood is absorbed. Once the blade is full, the ruby in the pommel begins to glow as well. When pressed, the sword is sheathed in a wreath of flame giving off bright light in a 15ft radius for 1 minute or 2 successful melee attacks, at which point the glow and fire dissipate.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
