Staff, rare (requires attunement by a Spellcasters)

Can be used as a simple weapon. 1d6 bludgeoning damage.

Aundair developed the war staff to help wandslingers match the range of Thranish archers, but it quickly spread across Khorvaire. Then a gnomish artificer tinkered with one to make it easier to wield by those of shorter stature. He made it adjustable and collapsible. It can retract to a staff of only 2 feet or extend to 7 feet. The user can use a bonus action to extend or retract the staff to a desire length. It can also support up to 3oo pounds and be used as an arcane focus.

Any cantrip cast using it can be cast at up to four times the standard range. However, when you cast a cantrip at more than twice the standard range, your attack rolls have disadvantage, and other creatures have advantage on any saving throws made against your cantrip. So, a fire bolt cast using a war staff has a range of 480 feet, but  attack rolls against targets more than 240 feet away are made at disadvantage.

Only spellcasters can attune to this staff.
