Arcane Airship

The arcane airship is a Galleon, able to levitate and fly at slow speeds due to three Mythallar crystals arranged in a triangle, two at the stern (rear) and one in the bow (front). The ship is controlled by a spellcaster seated at the helm. The spellcaster controls the ship by attuning to the helm and meditating while directing its movement. If the airship's arcane propulsion fails, it can land and sail as a normal Galleon. Disabling the airship's helm or its Mythallar crystals causes its propulsion and flying to fail, and it will begin an uncontrollable spiralling plummet to the ground. This galleon style is one of the most early arcane airship designs, and therefore closely resembles normal ship. The airship allows fast and easy travel across large stretches of land, or to avoid pirates and sea monsters by flying over an ocean rather than sailing on it. The ship has a network of strong iron beams inside the ship to support the mythallars. Without winds, the airship can only travel at 7 mph.

The airship's simple design allows a relatively small crew to handle the rigging and manoeuvring. The helmsman is usually found on the aft deck, connected to the arcane helm, where he gets a good view of the rest of the ship. Communication with lower decks is often achieved with the use of a simple speaking tube. Typical positions aboard the airship include a captain, first officer, helmsman, and navigator. A weapon-master is often included as well, to command the weapon crews. Many Arcane Airships are armed with Arcane Ballistas. To embark or disembark, the airship needs to dock at a Skyport. Alternatively, it can lower to near the ground, drop an anchor, and lower down a rope ladder. The airship is mostly used by the military for patrols and scouting, as well as transport for important ambassadors.
