Withdrawing his short sword from your back, the rogue darts nimbly away - some trick leaves a shadowy apparition in his place, fouling any chance you had at a counter attack. That coward will fall quickly once you can corner him, but you have more pressing matters. Ignoring his petty illusions, you turn to face the heavily armored woman that is pressing you hard from your left. You raise your blade to strike her down - only to feel a familiar blade slide between your ribs, driving deep. The shadowy echo you so quickly disregarded pulls that same short sword from your back once again, eyes glimmering dimly in the darkness as it fades to nothingness.
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
When you attack a creature with this weapon and then move away from that creature, you can choose to leave a shadowy echo of your ill will behind, through which you can use your reaction to attack that same creature at the beginning of that creature's turn by expending 1 charge. If you become unconscious or use your reaction for another purpose before that creature's turn, or if the creature dies or moves from the echo's reach, the echo fades to nothingness without acting.
The echo can take advantage of any abilities or features you can apply to your normal attacks, such as Smites, Maneuvers, or Sneak Attack, using the criteria of those abilities. Because the echo attacks on the creature's turn, the echo's use of Sneak Attack will not impact nor be impacted by you using Sneak Attack on your own turn. For spells such as Hex or Branding Smite, etc., the echo counts as you; meaning it can benefit from the Hex's extra damage, and it can deliver the Smite spell effects. The echo itself cannot cast spells - you must have said spells affecting you according to their respective rules. If you are a Paladin, the echo can deliver your Divine Smite feature, but you must expend your own spell slot as normal.
The echo appears as a translucent copy of you composed of wispy tendrils of shadow.
- The echo does not occupy the space, nor does it obstruct movement or vision.
- The echo does not count as a creature nor an object.
- The echo is a magical effect of 3rd level conjuration magic, therefore Dispel Magic can destroy the echo.
- The echo cannot move.
- The echo cannot make opportunity attacks.
- The echo itself does not count as an ally nor as an enemy for purposes of granting Sneak Attack or any other similar effects.
- Do not eat the echo.
- Do not feed the echo after midnight.
- Consult a cleric for an echo lasting more than 4 hours.
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat, Finesse, Light, Vex
