A Vestige of the Divergence, this staff is constructed of charred wood that tightly grasps a glowing ruby at its apex. Legends say the staff was created when a powerful archdruid channeled all their magic and life force into containing the Ruby of Oblivion and its endless destructive potential.
Sentience. Athravan is sentient neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 16, a Wisdom of 22, and a Charisma of 14. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. The weapon communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common, Infernal, and Primordial.
Personality. Athravan is occupied by a consciousness formed from the melding of the Ruby of Oblivion and the ancient druid Athrava. It retains some memories of its druidic predecessor and speaks with the wisdom of a sage. However, it also has a quick temper and is prone to outbursts of fiery rage. It longs to be a part of something greater than itself.
Dormant
Athravan grants the following benefits in its dormant state:
- This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff with the finesse property that grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it (extra damage is considered Fire damage). While holding it, you have a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls.
- You can cast the Create Bonfire and Druidcraft spells at will. Spells cast through the staff use your spell save DC and spellcasting ability.
- You can cast the Wall of Fire and Immolation spells once per day each, regaining your ability to cast them at dawn.
- Ashen Cultivation: When you deal fire damage to terrain using this staff in any way, you instantly make vibrant plant life regrow in the area after the flames are gone.
Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
