The Bargaining Chip was said to be created by Graz Morag, a founder of the Eight Roads market and renowned thief. Morag was a folk hero in his own time, and made a habit of liberating  goods, gold, and other valuables from those who hoarded them in excess. Tales of Morag always began with a scene of the scoundrel surveying some castle or cache or vault, and flipping his trusty coin -- nicknamed "Bargaining Chip".

Bargaining Chip appears identical to a normal gold coin of Dunes origin, with Methis's countenance on one face and a set of scales on the other. Once per day, the attuner can choose one of the following uses for the coin:

• Payback - Upon taking damage from any creature, the attuner hurls Bargaining Chip at the attacker as a reaction, making a ranged attack with proficiency. On hit, the creature takes damage equal to that inflicted upon the attuner, after which Bargaining Chip shatters, reforming at the next dawn.
• Evasion -  When targeted by an attack or spell, but before knowing whether or not the effect or attack hits, the attuner may throw Bargaining Chip at a point within 20 feet as a reaction, and change places with it. If the trigger was an attack, the attack misses. If the trigger was an area of effect, and swapping places places the attuner outside of the initial radius, the attuner takes no damage. After suffering the attack or effect intended to target the attuner, BC shatters, reforming at the next dawn.
• Debt - As a bonus action, BC can be given to another creature. For the next minute, half of all damage taken by the attuner is instead passed to the recipient. After the minute expires, BC shatters, reforming at the next dawn.
  
  
  

* When attuned by a creature on bad terms with Methis, the coin will appear to attune successfully. While attuned, attacks against the attuner will have advantage, and the attuner has disadvantage on saving throws against damaging effects.
