A round, cork stopper roughly three inches in diameter and one inch thick.
After attunement, the bung can be activated with a single-word phrase and placed on the ground or on an inanimate object that is not being worn or carried. It will sink one-half inch before stopping and allowing the object or ground it is placed in to form a tight seal around its perimeter.
The next creature to touch the Astral Bung causes the item to teleport back to the last person it was attuned to, leaving in its wake a sucking portal to the astral plane. Any creature within ten feet of this portal and not holding onto an item that is firmly affixed to the ground must make a DC 12 STR save or be sucked in. Any items within ten feet of the portal that are likewise not firmly affixed to the ground - or to another object that is - are sucked in as well. The portal exists for one minute before closing. Anything left on the astral plane side stays in the astral plane after the portal closes and any objects (such as rope) that remain partway through when the portal closes are severed.
